Ismael Henestrosa

With over 24 years of experience in competition law, consumer protection, and compliance, Ismael has advised national and international clients on mergers, antitrust investigations, and public tenders before COFECE and IFT. He was a partner at Aziz & Kaye Business Law, led the Legality and Compliance area at CAPUFE, and served as Legal Manager at L.A.J.A.T.

He holds a Law degree from UAM and a Master’s in Business Law from Universidad Anáhuac. He is also an active member of the Mexican Bar Association and coordinates the Economic Competition Commission at the Illustrious and National Bar Association of Mexico.

His notable cases include the implementation of compliance programs for companies such as América Móvil and Aeroméxico, advising on mergers like Aeroméxico-Delta, and representing clients in monopoly investigations in key sectors such as telecommunications and banking.

Abel Rivera

With over 15 years of experience handling competition law matters, Abel has represented national and international clients before COFECE, IFT, and specialized courts, as well as advised on audits and compliance programs. Before becoming a partner at Comp+Law, he worked at the Federal Competition Commission and was a senior associate at Greenberg Traurig, contributing to the positioning and recognition of the firm’s competition law practice.

His notable cases include mergers in industries such as real estate, telecommunications, and infrastructure; key investigations and litigation matters such as airport slots at Mexico City International Airport, LP gas, pharmaceutical distribution, and cash transportation; as well as the implementation of compliance programs for the chemical and discretionary consumer goods industries.

Since 2014, he has been a speaker in the Economic Competition Diploma Program at the International Chamber of Commerce Mexico.

Luis Santos of Counsel

Luis Santos is a lawyer from the Escuela Libre de Derecho with a postgraduate degree from the University of Paris I, Panthéon-Sorbonne. With extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, competition law, commercial arbitration, and real estate law, he has worked at the ICC International Court of Arbitration and has been an Associate of ACIArb since 2007.

He was a partner at Von Wobeser y Sierra and Santos & Partners, where he led the competition law practice. He is a member of the Mexican Bar Association, the Illustrious and National Bar Association of Mexico, and other relevant institutions.

His notable cases include mergers such as the joint venture between Duhamel Cable and Telecab (now Cablemás), acquisitions of Henkel and Pernod Ricard, and representation in the Continental-United Airlines merger. Additionally, he has defended companies in antitrust litigation and immunity cases in the aviation and LP gas sectors before COFECE.
